Azzurra win Race 1

Maintaining their record of leading every race since their boat was christened last month in Valencia, Azzurra won the first race of the Week of the Straits regatta on their home waters of the Costa Smeralda.

In five to seven knots of NE’ly breeze the crew which won this regatta here in 2013 made the best start off the middle of the line with good speed. Earning the best of the wind pressure in the first few minutes of the beat Azzurra – with Alberto Roemmers sharing the driving duties with Guillermo Parada – then made their biggest gain on the second beat but were not challenged at all, crossing the finish with more than one minute ahead. Paprec were pushed hard by Quantum Racing on the final downwind but made their best result of the season yet with second while Quantum Racing passed Alegre on the first downwind to finish in third place.
