Race 2 – Bronenosec made it

Vladimir Liubomirov’s crew on Bronenosec atoned for a disapponting 9th in the first race of the Week of the Straits regatta when they won Race 2 ahead of Takashi Okura’s Sled.

Ironically both the top two in Race two improved from the lowest positions in Race 1.
Gladiator lead around the first windward mark of Race 2 but Bronenosec chose the better downwind option, electing to make a standard bear away set which sent then downwind with better wind pressure. They lead Sled and Gladiator by the leeward gate and went on to win.
Azzurra, winners of the first race did not make the best start and had to fight back to sixth, while Quantum’s gain to fourth from fifth means these two familar rivals share the same points tally, seven, at the end of the first day.
