Race 1 – Provezza Maintain Winning Form

Winners in Puerto Sherry last month Provezza won the first race of the Cascais 52 SUPER SERIES Sailing Week in brisk 18-22kts NW’ly winds, conditions typical for the Portuguese venue. Azzurra led around the windward mark but their early gybe on the run cost them relative to Provezza, which had rounded second. Platoon appeared to be over the start at the boat end of the start line and rounding the signal boat and recrossing left them chasing the pack.

From fifth early on, Quantum Racing had a good second beat, which got them up to second, passing arch-rivals Azzurra, Quantum Racing finished second, Azzurra third and Bronenosec fourth. Platoon recovered to fifth in the seven-boat fleet.
