Interlodge lead on day one

Austin and Gwen Fragomen’s Interlodge won Race 2 of the Royal Cup Marina Ibiza to lead the regatta overall.

With John Cutler on tactics Interlodge opened with a good first beat in the very light conditions, starting from the left end of the start but staying with the strongest band of pressure upwind to round the top mark ahead of Gladiator and Azzurra. Gladiator were required to take a two turns penalty which dropped them to eighth, but Tony Langley’s crew fought back on the final run to earn themselves fourth. Azzurra could make no impression on the American flagged winners and took second with Rán Racing remaining nicely consistent with another third place.
