Sled win, Platoon lead world championships

Takashi Okura’s Sled won the second race of the TP52 world championships contested in a shifty, light 6 to 8kts sea breeze but it is Harm Muller Spreer’s Platoon which leads the championship with a 1,5 for the day.

Platoon fought back after being locked out at the pin end of the start line rescuing their fifth while Sled sailed a strong top third of the first beat, only just squeezing around the first windward mark ahead of Alegre and Ran Racing.

With their choice of the left hand mark looking upwind when they rounded throught the leeward gate and a good band of favourable lifted pressure on the second upwind, Sled were able to extend to a comfortable win.

Defending champions Quantum Racing could not build on their third in the first race, taking a penalty after the first windward mark they could only make 11th in a fleet which is so evenly matched at such a high level that consistency is especially difficult.
