Race 7

Quantum Racing won Race 8 of the Cascais Cup to apply more pressure on regatta leaders Azzurra which finished in fifth place after holding the early lead.

Azzurra’s fifth to Quantum Racing’s win leaves Azzurra 36 points ahead on the overall points table for the 2015 52 SUPER SERIES, meaning the title is all but secure for the Roemmers family crew which sails under the flag of the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda.
Two of the three main contenders for the third place on the 52 SUPER SERIES standings were OCS. Both Platoon and Bronenosec pushed the line too hard and had to restart together. Sled lead them around the course but dropped to ninth after a penalty after the first leeward turn. Platoon recovered to seventh, ahead of eighth placed Bronenosec to preserve that circuit standing margin a five points.
In the Cascais Cup Provezza and Platoon are now tied for third on 35 points
