Race 3 – Azzurra Pick Up Where They Left Off

Azzurra won the third race of the Menorca 52 SUPER SERIES Sailing Week. The second win in a row for the team that flies the burgee of the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, extending their overall lead to eight points.

With Santi Lange calling tactics, Azzurra started at the signal boat end of the line and flipped onto port on what proved to be a right-sided upwind, benefiting from a nice geographic wind bend caused by the land up to the right of the race arena.

Alegre passed on the run, but Azzurra chose the left mark – looking downwind – and were able to lead again on the second beat. Racing in 13-15kts of SSW’ly breeze Azzurra have been notably fast.
