Audi All4One score back-to-back wins

Audi All4One clinched back-to-back line honours wins on day four of the Copa del Rey on Thursday, with the combination of America’s Cup and Olympic champions Jochen Schüemann and Jordi Calafat proving invincible.

It is the third line honours win in two days for the on-form team, having claimed a win in Wednesday’s coastal race.

Paprec cross the line 50 seconds after All4One in second place, ahead of Gladiator, Azzurra, Provezza and PowerPlay. Corrected time results are pending.

Looking to make amends for a shocking first race of the day, Azzurra made a flying start, along with Audi All4One and Gladiator. Provezza were individually recalled and forced to return to the line.

Meanwhile, the fleet headed hard left towards land, before Gladiator and Azzurra performed a synchronised tack to the right. All4One continued pushing hard left with Paprec.

All4One and Paprec’s left course paid dividends, with All4One narrowly leading Paprec and the fleet around the windward mark. Azzurra were third, followed by PowerPlay, Gladiator and Provezza.

The steady helm of four time Olympic medal winning skipper Jochen Schüemann saw All4One hold their lead at the gate. Paprec remained second, ahead of Azzurra, Gladiator, Provezza and PowerPlay.

All4One held their lead at the final windward mark rounding, Paprec remained second, while Gladiator overtook Azzurra to move into third place.

Downwind the breeze built to over 10 knots as All4One raced to their second victory of the day.

Following racing Gladiator notified the race committee of their intention to protest Paprec.

Rán finished second across the line in the IRC 0 division, behind Stig. Following racing, Shockwave notified the race committee of their intention to protest Rán.
