2016 52 World Championship – Race 5 Summary

Quantum Racing won Race 5 of the 52 World Championship on the beautiful waters off Mahón, Menorca to extend their lead to 18 points. The 2014 world champions led from midway up the first beat and led Rán Racing around the windward mark.

The two leaders sailed clear of the chasing pack in the windward-leeward race, which was contested in 12-17kts of breeze. Bronenosec and Provezza made solid gains down the last run to take third and fourth places. Azzurra and Rán Racing are now tied for second overall.
