15th of October, 2016

The Last Waltz

It’s the last day of the 2016 52 SUPER SERIES season and, just as there was last year in Cascais, there is a notable air of expectation and excitement as the fleet head out on to the racing area. Azzurra have a five point lead and are looking to close out their only regatta title of the season, seeking to hold off the team, who two days ago clinched the 2016 title – Quantum Racing.

As planned, Doug DeVos returns to the helm of Quantum Racing for this showdown Saturday.

“It’s a case of just keeping our focus and doing the best we can.” Said DeVos as they headed out from the Marina de Cascais.

And the third step on the season’s podium is between Rán Racing and Provezza, just two points separating the two as racing starts today.

“It’s very important for us, proving we are the best behind the monster teams: Quantum Racing and Azzurra.” Commented Nacho Postigo, Provezza’s navigator.

Breezes are due to be 10 to 15kts with a mix of dark clouds and sunshine suggesting a shifty, unsettled day for this finale.

The EGNOS 52 SUPER SERIES Cascais Cup will take place from 11-15 October, with races starting at 13:30 CEST every day. Track the boats via state-of-the-art Virtual Eye at www.52SUPERSERIES.com/LIVE or via the app.
