Rán Racing win second coastal race

Niklas Zennstrom’s Rán Racing, defending world champions, won today’s 31 miles coastal race, around Spargi island, narrowly defeating 52 SUPER SERIES champions Quantum Racing.

Ergin Imre’s Provezza team sailed impeccably to lead to the island turn but lost Quantum Racing as they passed the island and set gennakers after a long beat.

Rán Racing read the shifts and change in wind pressure better on the middle section of the run, holding to the La Madalenna side where they gained to get through Quantum Racing and Provezza. On the finish line it was Rán Racing only just ahead of Quantum Racing who in turn were just a boat lenght ahead of Phoenix with Provezza fourth. The race truly lived up to Costa Smeralda’s reputation for delivering great, interesting conditions through the wonderful landscape.
