Race 9 – Platoon Raise the Pressure in Puerto Sherry

Platoon restored their challenge for the Royal Cup when they won an exciting Race 9. Although they did not start so well, they were able to cross to the right side of the course and narrowly cross ahead of Provezza to lead the Turkish-flagged boat all the way to the finish line. A late surge by Provezza meant there was only a few seconds in it, but Platoon’s win means they go into the last race three points behind the regatta leaders Azzurra. Azzurra lost third to a downwind charge from Sled on the second run while Bronenosec, who led into the last day, finished eighth dropping to fourth. But the decider sees Azzurra leading Provezza by one point, Platoon and Bronenosec are now three points behind.
