Race 8 – Provezza Win, Quantum With Six-point Lead Going Into Last Race

Provezza, last year’s winners, triumphed in the penultimate race of the Puerto Portals 52 SUPER SERIES Sailing Week, but with a well-earned second place ahead of Platoon with third, and Azzurra fourth, Quantum Racing are on course for their third regatta title of the season.

Podium contenders Luna Rossa were over the start line early at the pin, and had to re-start, so the best start was to Provezza and Platoon. Both made the best of the left shift and pressure with Platoon leading around the top mark, Quantum Racing in fifth.

Both lead boats gybed early, but Quantum Racing stayed straight down the right side of the run, gaining to third. While Provezza pulled through Platoon on the upwind, Quantum Racing again made a gain on the run, getting inside Platoon to score a second place. They lead into the last race by six points over tied Azzurra and Platoon.
