Race 3 – Close race in excellent conditions

A second win from an exciting Race 3 of the Ford Vignale Valencia Sailing Week sees Andy Soriano and his Alegre crew take the overall event lead. But a second place stolen at the last gasp by Rán keeps Niklas Zennström’s crew locked on the same aggregate points as Alegre.

Alegre got the better of Sled at the top of the second beat to lead around the final turn. The Rán team recovered from sixth place at the first windward turn to make gains on each leg, taking second place by just three seconds from Takashi Okura’s Sled which lead on the second round. Conditions proved excellent with the Valencia sea breeze building to 13kts at times promoting close racing right through the fleet.
