Platoon Win Race 8, Azzurra’s Third Keeps on Course for Miami Title

A third place from an exciting penultimate race sees Azzurra with one hand on the title for the second regatta of the 52 SUPER SERIES season, the Miami Royal Cup. The crew representing the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda have a nine points margin over Harm Müller-Spreer’s Platoon.

Race 8 was sailed in an E’ly breeze which built to 14kts at times and flat water, racing for the first time on the north race area off South Beach. Azzurra started well off the pin end of the line and lead at the first windward mark, working the left side of the course upwind. Quantum Racing rounded second with Platoon third. John Kostecki held Platoon more to the left of the downwind and found more pressure while Azzurra stayed right and lost to third.
