Bruni is Back

The reliable Bay of Palma sea breeze is showing every sign of an appearance which should allow the Puerto Portals Sailing Week to start on cue. The fleet will comprise of nine TP52s for the third regatta of the 52 SUPER SERIES as unfortunately XIO Hurakan will not be able to take part due to the damage sustained to their standing rigging during yesterday’s practice race.

While Quantum Racing have won both regattas so far this season Rán Racing have established themselves in second overall, just ahead of Alegre, Platoon and Azzurra. Among these four chasing boats then Azzurra are under real pressure to get their challenge back up to its marks as they are 16 points behind second placed Rán. But Rán have Francesco Bruni stepping in as tactician this week, replacing Morgan Larson who has other commitments.

“I am so happy to be back with the TP52 class. I love the class, I love the racing and being back in the monohulls is a big challenge. I think it is two years since I was in the class last with Azzurra. It is a bit of a rush in for me, arriving this morning, but the team is strong and I am sure I will fit in fin.” Said Bruni this morning.

“We will try to keep the basics right and do the simple things well. I have a great strategist in Adam Beashel is really good, one of the best. I had plenty of hugs this morning from the Azzurra guys. They are happy to see me.”
